Who We Are
SwitcherMate is a trading name of SwitcherMate Ltd (Company No. 16568958), registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 8a Whalley Road, Accrington, BB5 1AA. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this website and our services, operating in accordance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and PECR.
What We Collect
Personal: Name, phone number, email address
Property: Full address, postcode, UPRN (Unique Property Reference Number). Where you use our address lookup tool without providing a name or contact details, we may create a record associated with your property's UPRN for the purpose of checking availability and showing relevant deals. This record does not identify you personally until you choose to provide further information.
Service Data: Broadband availability at your address, package preferences, current provider details, deals viewed during your session
Technical: IP address, approximate location (derived from IP, city-level only), device type, cookies, website analytics
How We Collect It
Online comparison platform (switchermate.com), address lookup tool, broadband speed test, website forms, phone enquiries, and third-party availability data providers including Ordnance Survey (address lookup) and Think Broadband (broadband availability data).
How We Use It
We process your postcode and, where you provide it, your full address so we can check broadband availability at your specific property, display accurate pricing tiers, and match you with providers that genuinely serve your location. This is the core of the comparison service — without location data we cannot show meaningful deals.
If you choose to enter a phone number, we use it to contact you about the enquiry you started (for example to complete a switch or answer a technical question). Marketing calls, SMS, or WhatsApp only happen where you give explicit consent under PECR, separate from the address-led comparison flow.
Legally, postcode and address processing for showing relevant broadband deals is carried out on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR): the processing is necessary to deliver the comparison you requested and is balanced against your rights. Optional phone-based marketing relies on consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
SwitcherMate Ltd is the data controller. GoHighLevel acts as a data processor for certain CRM and customer-journey automation tasks strictly on our instructions. To request erasure of personal data, email hello@switchermate.com and we will action qualifying requests without undue delay.

Telephone and Electronic Marketing Consent
Where you provide your phone number on our platform, you will be asked to give explicit consent before we contact you by phone, SMS, or WhatsApp. We rely on this consent as our legal basis for direct marketing communications under PECR. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@switchermate.com or by using the opt-out link in any message we send you.
Who We Share With
Providers: Broadband, energy, and mobile providers — only to facilitate quotes or orders you request.
Technology Service Providers: We use third-party processors for CRM and lead management, transactional email delivery, website hosting and security, address verification, and broadband availability data. Processors are engaged only where necessary and handle data solely on our instructions. Some processors are based in the United States — all such transfers are made under Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Group Companies and Partners: We may share your data with trusted third parties within our group of companies and selected partners for the purpose of following up on your enquiry and providing the best available service. This is done on the basis of legitimate interests. You may opt out at any time by emailing hello@switchermate.com.
Legal Basis
Contract performance — processing your comparison request or order. Legitimate interests — showing relevant deals, following up on enquiries, improving our service. Consent — direct marketing by phone, SMS, or WhatsApp under PECR. Legal obligation — regulatory and statutory compliance.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise any right, contact us at hello@switchermate.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Retention
Customer and lead records retained for 6 years post-contract in line with UK statutory requirements. Lead data where no order is placed deleted after 12 months of inactivity. Technical logs and speed test data deleted after 12 months. Consent records retained for the duration of the consent period plus 12 months.
International Transfers
Some of our third-party processors are based in the United States, including GoHighLevel (CRM), Resend (email delivery), and Cloudflare (hosting and processing). Where data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office to ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection.
